Goat names, milk and more!!!
The lambs are for thy clothing, and the goats are the price of the field. And thou shalt have goats' milk enough for thy food, for the food of the household, and for the maintenance for thy maidens.
Proverbs 27:26-27
I want to preface this post with admitting that my goats' udders arn't the best- as I don't raise high dollar pedigreed goats! However, here is what we deal with daily.
Cupcakes is producing 6 1/2 cups in the morning, Puddins is producing 7 1/2 cups in the morning, and both 2 1/2 to 3 cups in the evening. They are producing about as much as their mother in their first year and Sugar is in her 3rd year. Sultan has improved Sugar's kids a lot. Wow!!!
Puddins' udder
Cupcake's udder. Believe me, there is an udder hiding in there somewhere. It looks basically just like Puddins.
Daisy's udder, our best goat as far as an udder goes. She doesn't have the best tasting milk though. In fact we never drink Daisy's milk. Her milk's taste can be difficult to nail down because for some reason, she is very sensitive about her mineral intake- her body just metabolizes things differently. Mineral is the #1 thing that affects the goats' milk as far as my experience has been. This is why I have bottle calves! Her milk would be fine for soap though which is what I hope to get around to making this year.
Sugar's udder
Minty's udder
We never show Ginger's udder. It's a disgrace...
Banana Split's name has been changed to...(drumbeats rolling please)...
Bunny!!! (because she hops like a bunny). That's Twizzler next to her, he almost looks like he's Nigerian.
We have finished selling off all goat kids until the fall!!!! Check back then for availability
