Dogs...and dogs... and dogs...

I feel like all of my latest posts have been about dogs.

So here is another one.

About

..........

Dogs!

So, nearly 2.5 weeks ago Duke and Wayne got into a dog fight.  Wayne started the fight by darting up and biting Duke on his back leg.  After 10 seconds I was able to separate them.  Of course Duke didn't get any wounds. Wayne, on the other hand, got a broken foot.

This was on a Saturday.  Dock carried Wayne into the house.  After looking at the foot, we concluded that it was probably broken, as it was already swelling and was pointing to the side, although there was no blood.

We took him to the vet Monday (nearly 3 weeks ago) and he did indeed have a broken foot.  It was what they called a "boxer break", as all the bones in the foot were crushed.  They set his leg in a cast and sent him home, telling us to bring him in every week to re-wrap the leg.  The vet said that it would take 8 weeks for it to heal.

After two weeks of this we saw that at the top of his leg it was rashed and raw, so we decided just to take the cast off his leg.  This ended up being a bad idea, because the next day his foot was crooked again.  So we have continued taking him in to the vet to re-wrap his leg each week.
Poor Wayne!

The foot.  I don't have pictures of it wrapped right now (it was re-wrapped last Monday) but it will be wrapped again tomorrow.

We took Duke to the state land (it's about a mile away.  We cross the road, go through the neighbors place, and there's the state land) 2 weeks ago.  We walked about 5 miles.

We saw this weird antennae-thing.  Any idea what it is?

And after the hike Duke jumped right into his kitty pool and cooled off!

We sold Kavik and Sapphire nearly 4 weeks ago to great homes.  I wanted to keep Sapphire, but we decided that we needed the money to cope with the vet bills from Duke's tooth, Nova's euthanization, and now Wayne's leg.

Here are mixed photos of both puppies that I took of them last minute.  There are so many of them, these are about half.

We also sold Grace on April 1.  She will be used as a milk goat.

Vindicator, Joker, and Pinochle (the calves) are growing great.  The cow, who we decided to name Grandma, is the sweetest mother ever.  We moved her with Vindicator and Pinochle to a neighboring pasture that we are renting.  Joker is temporarily with the goats right now.  They don't really like him, and get into cliques and ignore him.

Right before Grandma left.

I was thinking about how blogs/websites can change, and thinking about how this blog used to be mainly about the nannies.  They haven't been in a post for a long time though, so I think that the next post will feature them again.
