Goodbye forever....
Sad news...Goofy died! 😢 He had got into the hay and bloated, however he laid down to chew his cud and unfortuantely, he was laying downhill. We found him late afternoon after we got back from town. Goodbye, Goofy...
In loving memory of Daisy and Cupcake.....
We sold Daisy and Cupcake!!! Surprise, surprise!!
On Sunday, September 2, Daisy and Cupcake went down the road, staring at me indignantly. Several days before, we had put them for sale. We wanted to downsize, and we refused to sell the other 4 (Dad wants to get into mother cows, and get rid of the milk goats).
4 hours after we had posted the ad we got a call. They lived in Yakima, and were interested in Daisy because she was dehorned. They arrived for the morning milking so they could watch Daisy being milked. They raise purebred, registered boars (they had about 40-50 of them, the lady said), and they needed an extra Alpine(they already had one.) in case the boars had triplets or more. They let their does dam raise, but if there are triplets (or more), they pull those extra kids off and bottle raise. Their one Alpine wasn't enough to stock pile their freezers full of milk. They ended up buying Cupcake too!!
About a week later the lady texted and said that Daisy wasn't jumping on the stanchion (she always did that with us after she had kidded for about the first week, as did the other goats). We told her to be patient with Daisy and if necessary heave ho her on the stanchion, she'll get into the swing of it. It worked, Daisy lined out. A couple days after that, she said that she felt like Daisy had an obstruction the teat. Oh no!! We gave them advice, and they thanked us, and we haven't heard of any new problems yet. They gave them a very good home. Cupcake and Daisy have already been bred to an ugly Nubian buck. We don't like floppy ears!
Pictures of Cupcake that I never put on.

Bunny is sold along with Rose Petal to Halfway Oregon!
We went to my grandma and grandpa's house (they live in the Tri-Cities) to pick up our two cows that were on their irrigated pasture and hauled them to the butcher.
I never got to say that Bunny's eyes were blue! All around her pupil was a ring of blue!
I will miss them, especially Bunny

Also, I want to apologize. There was an error on the post New Calves and Chicks!
I don't know how I forgot, but I left a calf out!! I know. Shame on me! I have no idea how I forgot...(*Note: On the post New Calves and Chicks! I added the new calf.)
Drumbeats rolling please.....Bumbler!!
I named him Bumbler because he was so selenium deficient when we brought him home (He was in the same group as Goofy) that he couldn't walk his legs were so crooked! He had to walk on his knees or on his knuckles like a sloth. I had to give him physical therapy and massage his legs! He was also so big as a day old calf that Dad and Mom were kind of shocked. He is even as tall as the 4 month old calves, but a bit meatier!
*Note how in the first pic and the second pic his legs are crooked and look like they are going to buckle over. In the fourth pic his legs are straight.
His legs are straight now. He was given bo-se upon arriving at our farm.
